Established Thoughts
God's Perfect Plan For Our Life

Commit your works to the LORD, And your thoughts will be established. Proverbs 16:3 (NKJV)

I don't know about you but I often find myself feeling like a kid in a candy shop because there are so many things I can be doing on any given day.  For instance, I have at least 20 books sitting in my study waiting to be read, and 3 others outlined on my computer waiting to be written.  I aspire to finish learning how to speak Spanish and I am intrigued to take several courses in various subject matters.  And this is just the studious portion of my list of things to do, as I have a whole host of physical ambitions and travel agendas as well.

All this to say, I can easily get consumed and distracted in the many opportunities lying before me.  So which ones do I do and which ones do I forgo?  How can I decide and have peace with my decisions?  I am sure everyone has dealt with this at some point and for some it is an everyday occurrence.  Sometimes the contemplation of these decisions can cause what I refer to as, "Paralysis of the analysis."  This is where you end up doing nothing because we can't decide which to do.  It's like rush hour traffic in our head as the thoughts vie for a lane to the mainframe of our brainthe one making the final decision.

Thankfully God knew we would find ourselves in this quandary at some point, and He gave us great counsel to help us through.  We are told to commit our works to the Lord, and our thoughts will be established (Prov. 16:3).

This is so simple, yet so profound for us in our Christian walk.  If we would just make it our goal to commit everything we do unto the Lord, He would then establish our thoughts.  Again, when we think upon this it has an amazing impact on our lives because God will create and place His thoughts in our mindthoughts impacting and guiding our every decision and action.  As we read His Word and allow it to soak in our mind we will then be equipped  to glorify God in all we do and God will create the perfect outline for what we choose to do.

"For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways, says the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:8-9 (NKJV)

I want to encourage you today to be committed to doing everything in a way to bring honor and glory to God.  May others see God in all you do, and may they want to know Him because of your selflessness.  It might not really matter as much about whether we choose to do this or that as much as it will matter why we are choosing to do it.  Let's do it as if we are doing it for our Lord.

STUDY QUESTION: According to Isaiah 55:8-9 what can we learn with respect to our thoughts and ways compared to God's?

PERSONAL INVENTORY: Are you committed to doing everything today as if you will be doing it for Jesus?

APPLICATION: Make it your goal to commit everything you do as a witness to your love for God.  Be willing to share Jesus with anyone at anytime, and allow God to use you as a vessel of honor.

Father, thank You for this profound truth and fantastic tool to help guide me in my walk.  Lord help me to remember each morning to think about this verse.  Use me today as a vessel of honor.  In Jesus' precious name, amen...

Be blessed, Pastor Scott
