True Belief in Action

If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.
    John 13:17 (NKJV)

What a profound statement that Jesus made here as well as an absolute truth, and yet we dont always listen or apply it. Why not? Why dont we act on what we know to be true when it comes to the Word of God?

Let me ask a couple seemingly simple questions: If you believed that your house was in the process of falling down during an earthquake would you attempt to flee to safety? How about this; if you thought that you were about to die because you had been bitten by what you believed to be a poisonous snake, would you seek medical attention? Chances are that you answered, Yes to both of these questions. Seems pretty obvious doesnt it? And so it is with acting in a way that shows that you truly believe that what God says is going to happen.

And Pharaoh sent and called for Moses and Aaron, and said to them, I have sinned this time. The LORD is righteous, and my people and I are wicked. Exodus 9:27 (NKJV)

In the scripture here in the Book of Exodus, we can see that Pharaoh finally admitted that he had sinned and that his people, the Egyptians, and he were in fact, wicked. He admits that he is wrong, so what should his action be, based on that admission? He should repent from his sin; and he should turn around and go in the other direction. But he doesnt! You see Pharaoh was willing to try anything to get the storm that was killing his cattle to stop. He wanted God to bail him out of his predicament.

Have you seen this in someones life up close and personal? Have you seen someone come to the Lord and ask for Him to save them, only to watch them turn back to the same lifestyle that got them into that situation in the first place? It happens frequently as people really dont want to give their lives over to God, they just want to get out of the jam that theyre in at that time, or they want Christian fire insurance. You know that policy that keeps you from the flames in eternity reserved for those who say no to the Holy Spirit, No to Jesus.

Thats not True Belief. True belief in action will always lead to repentance. It says, I agree with God that this is sin, and I dont want to do it anymore. There is a new respect or fear of the Lord that permeates your life and you begin to hate what is evil. Even if your body is still tempted, your spirit will be sickened by the sin that use to control your flesh.

We need to ask ourselves, Is my life a template that a new believer could use in their walk with God?

If youve received Jesus Christ as your personal savior, then I want to encourage you to make Him the Lord of your life as well. Submit to Him your every desire and ask Him to lead you in every aspect of your life. You will then experience the power to walk in victory with the freedom that God has intended for all of His children. He has already seated you in the heavenlies next to His son, and He has given you the free gift of salvation and the Holy Spirit to help you in every part of your life. Do you believe Him? Now simply walk worthy of what He has already done for you.

STUDY QUESTION: What does Jesus say about when we know the will and the word of God?

PERSONAL INVENTORY: Is your life a good template for a new believer?

APPLICATION: Read Colossians chapter 1. Walk worthy of what God has called you to as a believer and as a saint. Let Him help you do this. Dont strive in it; just let Him do it through you. This will happen as you read the word daily and simply make it your intent to live for Him.

Father, I thank You that for the sacrifice that You have made in allowing Your son to die for me on that cross of Calvary. I accept His payment and I choose to walk with You and to know You in a deeper relationship today. In Jesus precious name, amen&

    Be Blessed, Scott
