The Oneness of All Believers

The Oneness of All Believers
How God joins together all those in Christ

And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; Ephesians 4:11-13 (NKJV)
As Christian believers, we are to be unified and joined together as one body. Even though we make up many parts, individual members, we are joined together. Lets take a look at how.

Believers are one in:Our Unity is experienced in:

    BodyThe fellowship of believers-the church.

SpiritThe Holy Spirit, who activates the fellowship.

HopeThat glorious future to which we are all called.

LordChrist, to whom we all belong

    FaithOur singular commitment to Christ

BaptismBaptism-the sign of entry into the church.

God God, who is our Father who keeps us for eternity
That we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the headChrist from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love. Ephesians 4:14-16 (NKJV)

So God has knitted our Spiritual bodies together as one so that we might be in unity. He has done this in the same way He knitted our human bodies together with amazing detail and wonder. Different members working together as One Body.

How did God connect the pieces of our physical body, and what did He use for the attaching, or the glue?

    He did this with laminin.

    Whats laminin?

Here is how wikipedia describes them :'Laminin are a family of proteins that are an integral part of the structural scaffolding of basement membranes in almost every animal tissue.' You see.... laminin are what hold us together.... LITERALLY. They are cell adhesion molecules. They are what hold one cell of our bodies to the next cell. Without them, we would literally fall apart.

Here is what the structure of laminin looks like...AND THIS IS NOT a Christian portrayal of itif you look up laminin in any scientific/medical piece of literature, this is what you will see&

The 'glue' that holds us together.... ALL of us.... is in the shape of the cross.

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. Colossians 1:15-17 (NIV)

God holds us together for a fact, and were held together by the cross. God has chosen the cross of laminin to hold us together in our fleshly bodies, and once we have accepted Jesus as Lord, it is the Cross of Calvary, the spiritual laminin, that we as a body of believers are connected together through.

STUDY QUESTION: According to Colossians 1:17, what are all things held together in?

PERSONAL INVENTORY: Can you see the divine message of the cross within our lives, even as Science discovers the make-up of our bodies?

APPLICATION: Are you allowing God to knit you together as an integral part of the body of Christ? Are you willing to allow Him to use you where He wants to use you at?

Father, Thank You for the Cross. Thank You for what has been done on it, and how it affects my life as a believer. Use me today as you continue to join me with other believers to make up Your new body, the church. May I be useable and moldable today as I seek to glorify Your Son, my savior. In Jesus precious name, amen&

    Be Blessed, Scott
