A Living Testimony
2/2/2018

Then Jesus said to him, “Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will by no means believe.” John 4:48 (NKJV)

Have you ever asked someone to prove something they were claiming to be true?  Perhaps you wanted them to provide more evidence before you would weigh out your choice as to whether or not you believed them. This was the very case with Jesus; there were people who continued to ask Him to do a miracle so they could make their profession of faith (believe) in Him as the Christ.

So, is it wrong to believe in Jesus because we see a sign and wonder done by Him? No! This is why Jesus did signs and wonders. The problem was some believed more in the “signs and wonders” than in Jesus. In other words, they needed more signs and wonders so they could continue to believe.

There are still people to this day who will not believe in Jesus Christ because they do not see Him; they would say, “Seeing is believing.”  This makes me think about one of Jesus’ disciples named Thomas, or “Doubting Thomas” as he is often referred.  When Jesus had died and then resurrected, Thomas refused to believe until he could put his finger into the spear hole in Jesus’ side.  We can see Jesus speaking to Thomas about his newfound faith after Thomas saw Him with his own eyes.

Then He said to Thomas, “Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing.” And Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!”  Jesus said to him, “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” John 20:27-30 (NKJV)

I would say to those who need to see Jesus before they believe, simply look at those who have truly given their life to the Lord.  When someone is wholly surrendered to the Lord there will be signs and wonders in their own life, as they become somebody completely new in Christ Jesus.  The old way of living is gone and they will choose to walk in newness of life (2 Cor. 5:17).  It is an unmistakable sign of the transforming power of God, and it leaves all who witness it in total wonder.

I want to encourage you to think and pray upon these biblical truths today.  Make it your heart's desire to be fully submitted to God’s will for your life.  Be wholly surrendered to allowing Him to change every area He desires in your life.  Decide to be God’s living signs and wonder for those in this generation.

STUDY QUESTION: According to John 20:30 what does Jesus say about those who have not seen Him and yet they believe?

PERSONAL INVENTORY: Are you willing to be a living testimony to God’s signs and wonders by allowing Him to transform your life?

PRACTICAL APPLICATION: Make it your goal today to allow God to continue to change you to be more like Jesus.

PRAYER: Father, thank You for Your transformation of my life.  Help me to be more like Your Son today.  May others see the signs and wonders of this transformation and be drawn unto believing in Jesus. I ask this in Jesus’ precious name, amen…
