Fully Committed
12/15/2017

Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass. Psalms 37:5 (NKJV)

Have you ever done something half-hearted?  You know, where you really didn’t give it your all, or your best effort.  I think we all can be this way sometimes.  It can be because we don’t have our full heart set on the specific thing we are doing, or we simply just don’t have enough time to commit to it and still be able to do the other things we need to get done—or have an interest in doing.  I guess you could say we are not "All In.”

This statement, “All in” says it all, because it is saying, “I believe what I am doing I am doing with full commitment as unto the Lord.

Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31 (NKJV)

That is exactly how we should live our lives as Christians. When we live half-heartedly in our Christian walk we are compromising what God wants to do through us, and this is being a lukewarm Christian, and we can clearly see within the scriptures how the Lord disdains this type of walk.

So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. Revelation 3:16 (NKJV)

I think part of our problem of doing something half-hearted is we don’t feel confident in our own abilities. We can be tempted to doubt our own abilities, but we should never doubt God’s.  As Christian men and women, we can be confident in His ability to achieve His will through us; we must simply be willing to continue to believe and to trust. Once we have made this commitment within our heart we can do our very best and be confident in God’s sovereignty to work everything out.

I want to encourage you to think and pray upon these things today. Focus on doing everything as if you were doing it for the Lord Jesus.  Have peace knowing He is being honored in your joyful attitude and persevering spirit.  Invite the Lord to use you today as a vessel of honor.  Think about what an amazing privilege it is to be used by God.  Decide to be “All in” as you choose to live for God today.

STUDY QUESTION: According to the scriptures contained within this devotional, what could we learn with respect to how we live our lives as Christian men and women?

PERSONAL INVENTORY: Are you fully committed to doing everything as if you were doing it for the Lord?

PRACTICAL APPLICATION: Make a conscious choice to be fully committed to doing your best in everything you do today.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your commitment to me. I thank You for being faithful when I have been faithless.  I thank You for your promise to finish the good work You started in me.  Help me to see where I am not being fully committed in my life and strengthen me so I can change.  In Jesus’ precious name, amen…
