And All These Blessings
11/17/2015

“Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the LORD your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the LORD your God…” Deuteronomy 28:1-2 (NKJV)

In a world filled with instability, anxiety, and uncertainty, it is very calming to know we can find stability, peace and certainty.  God’s Word is our roadmap for life, and it is chock-full of His promises of blessings.  One of my favorite passages of Scriptures concerning His promise of blessing to His children can be found in Deuteronomy 28.  God had Moses convey these blessings to all of Israel if they would only “Obey the voice of the LORD” (Deut. 28:2).

Q:         So what kind of blessings can we, as God’s children, expect if they obey Him and His Word?

Well, I believe we can take a look at these same promises conveyed by Moses, because I believe they still apply to each and every one of us who will submit to our Lord and obey His will for our lives.  I think these promises of God’s blessings are important for us to know and to think upon as well, so I wanted to share them with you.

·       “Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the country” (Deut. 28:3).

·       “Blessed shall be the fruit of your body, the produce of your ground and the increase of your herds, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flocks” (Deut. 28:4).

·       “Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl” (Deut. 28:5).

·       “Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out” (Deut. 28:6).

·       “The LORD will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before your face; they shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways” (Deut. 28:7).

·       “The LORD will command the blessing on you in your storehouses and in all to which you set your hand, and He will bless you in the land which the LORD your God is giving you” (Deut. 28:8).

·       “The LORD will establish you as a holy people to Himself, just as He has sworn to you, if you keep the commandments of the LORD your God and walk in His ways. Then all peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the LORD, and they shall be afraid of you” (Deut. 28:9-10).

I want to encourage you to think and pray upon these things today.  God loves you and He wants to bless you abundantly.  Make it your heart's desire to read His Word daily, and to keep it fixed upon your mind and heart—choose to obey it, rather than any feeling leading you to turn from it, and you will see these blessings being poured out abundantly.

STUDY QUESTION: According to Deuteronomy 28, what has God promised His children, and what is required of them?

PERSONAL INVENTORY: Would you like to see all these blessings poured out in abundance upon your life?

PRACTICAL APPLICATION: Choose to know God’s Word in a greater way, and be determined to obey it, regardless of what you may feel like doing.

MAKE THIS YOUR PRAYER TODAY: Father, thank You for Your great promises of blessing upon my life.  Help me to know Your will for each situation I face, and give me the wisdom to apply what I know to be righteous to each situation.  In Jesus’ precious name, amen…

Be Blessed, Pastor Scott
