I Give All Glory To God!

For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. 1 Corinthians 6:20 (NKJV)

I am often reminded of who I am apart from God when the enemy tempts me to accept the glory due to my Lord because of something I may have done.  I know every one of us likes the positive recognition for the good things we are a part of, but I always want to be faithful to give all the glory to God, because all good things come from Him.  I might be the garden hose He has chosen to use, but He is the One who provides every drop of blessing.

Jesus once healed 10 lepers as they cried out for Him to have mercy upon them, and yet only one of them returned and used their voice to properly give all the glory to God.  Again, in the Book of Acts we can see a story of where King Herod was being praised by the people as they shouted, “It’s the voice of a god, not of a man!”  We are then told how an angel of the Lord struck Herod with sickness, consumed him with worms, which led to his death, all because he chose to accept the people’s worship instead of giving the glory to God (Acts. 12:22-23).

The way I see it, taking the glory for something you’re not responsible for is no less than stealing from someone else.  We need to be on guard against false humility as well when we are tempted to accept God’s glory, because the enemy is simply trying to plant a weed seed within our heart — when fully germinated it will bring forth pride and destruction within our lives.

Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall. Proverbs 16:18 (NKJV)

Q:         If the heavens declare the glory of God, should we do any different?

I want to encourage you to think and pray upon these things today.  Seek the Lord and ask Him to use you in a mighty way, and when He does, choose to be faithful to give all the glory to Him for the blessings He has given to others through you.

STUDY QUESTION: According 1 Corinthians 6:20, how are we to glorify God?

PERSONAL INVENTORY: Are you willing to glorify God in all you do?  Are you willing to defer the glory to God for all the good things you do?

PRACTICAL APPLICATION: Guard Yourself against the temptation to take the glory for the good things God has done through you — instead, choose to say, “All Glory To God!”

MAKE THIS YOUR PRAYER TODAY: Father, thank You for allowing me to be used by You in the lives of others. Help me to use my abilities in a way to draw others to Jesus, and may You be glorified in every good thing done through me.   In Jesus’ precious name, amen…

Be Blessed, Pastor Scott
