Created With A Purpose

“You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created.” Revelation 4:11 (NKJV)

All too often we can be tempted to think that God is here to help us to fulfill our dreams while we are here on earth.  We can be tempted to believe we should have a life with no problems because of our profession of faith in Jesus.  It is almost as if we have invited Jesus to jump into our boat, to guide us through all the stuff as our “co-pilot.”

Well, if we understand the truth of God’s Word we need to understand He is not our co-pilot.  In fact, if we chose to be perfectly honest, we would be wise to abandon our own little boat and get on board His ship.  We can learn these truths as we read His Word.  It is important we understand, we were not created to sail through life without a care and in trouble free waters, and we should know God is not a genie in a bottle to call upon only in times of trouble—He is a living God and He desires to have a relationship with us.

For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. Colossians 1:16 (NKJV)

Each of us has been fearfully and wonderfully made.  Every detail of our body has been given great attention, as God doesn’t make mistakes—He has made us exactly as He purposed.  And even though He has made each of us unique, He has still made us with a common—but specific—purpose in mind, and this is to have a relationship with Him and to bring glory to His name.

Knowing we were created for a specific purpose should cause us to desire to fulfill the purpose we were created for, and we can do this as we choose to live for God.  We must understand though, we cannot properly walk through any valley of testing—or even attempt to live for God—without His help, because He is the One who gives us the desire, and He provides the ability to live righteously and have faith.  This should give us a greater desire to draw near to Him daily and to seek His guidance, love, mercy and strength.

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10 (NKJV)

STUDY QUESTION: According to the Scriptures in this devotional why were we created by God?

PERSONAL INVENTORY: Is it your desire to bring Glory to God?

PRACTICAL APPLICATION:  Seek God in everything you do – allowing Him to be the center of all you do. Choose to bring glory and honor unto His name.

MAKE THIS YOUR PRAYER:  Father, thank You for creating me just the way you have.   I thank You for working in my life to transform me and to change me to be more like You.  It is my desire to bring Glory to Your name.  Help me to see Your will for my life in every decision.  In Jesus’ precious name, amen…
