Do You Believe?

and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power. Ephesians 1:19 (NKJV)

Everybody looks forward to something, and for Christian men and women it should be our being in the presence of God in Heaven.  For some, they would say this is the Promised Land, but the fact is we don’t have to wait to go to Heaven to live in the Promised Land.  This is because the Promised Land is not Heaven—it is right here and available where we live.  Some who may be reading this may be saying, “How can this be the Promised Land?  There is so much sin, and suffering.”

Well, we must understand the Promised Land of the Old Testament wasn’t Heaven either, but a place of sin and suffering as well—there would be wars fought there and people would still die.  The Promised Land was much more than a certain place to live—it had more to do with a way to live, but it would require one to believe in God’s promises, and to walk in faith.

God had led the Israelites through Moses out of the bondage of Egypt, with the intent to take them to a place they could live abundantly—it was their “Promised Land.”  God had done many miraculous acts to get their attention and to capture their hearts just so they would believe, and He had so much more to offer them so they could live a productive, happy, and peaceful life, but they chose not to believe.  They refused to believe God was this good, and that He would abundantly bless them.

We have the same opportunity today as God’s children did under the leadership and guidance of Moses.  We can choose to receive God’s blessings and equipping so we can begin to live in our Promised Land today.  All we must do is seek to understand and abide in what God has told us to do, and choose to walk in faith.  In truth, we must believe God wants to bless us in spite of ourselves—not because of who we are or what we have done, but in spite of who we are, and in spite of what we have done.  God has given us everything we need to live this life right now.

as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 2 Peter 1:3-4 (NKJV)

I want to encourage you to meditate upon these things today.

STUDY QUESTION: According to 2 Peter 1:3-4, what have we been given by God’s divine power?

PERSONAL INVENTORY: Do you believe God wants to bless you today to live victoriously?

APPLICATION: Let’s choose to receive the blessings God has given to us.  Let’s choose to believe in His promises, and allow Him to empower us to walk in truth and love.

LET’S PRAY: Father, thank You for giving us all things that pertain to life and godliness.  Help us to see any area where we are not choosing to believe in the freedom and power You have given us.  Open our eyes to see Your truth as it pertains to our life today.  In Jesus’ precious name, amen…

Be blessed, Pastor Scott
