Seeds of Life
Sowing The Seeds in Love

Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying:  "Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?" Then I said, "Here am I! Send me." Isaiah 6:8 (NKJV)

I was talking with a friend recently about a story he had read.  It was about a seed found within an Egyptian tomb.  Apparently the seed had been in the tomb for about three thousand years prior to the tomb being discovered.  The story has it the seed was planted and watered; soon it sprouted forth a new tender shoot.  What was once dead had brought forth new life.

As I went online to check out this story I found out this seed had not been carbon dated so the date could not be authenticated.  But while looking I found there was an authenticated carbon-14 dated seed known and documented to have grown into a viable plant.  It was a Judean date palm seed about two thousand years old.  This seed was reportedly recovered from excavations at Herod the Great's palace on Masada in Israel.  So out of a seemingly dead seed comes new life.

Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain. John 12:24 (NKJV)

I find this same thing happening to people throughout the world.  Others have shared their personal testimony of Jesus Christ with them and seeds have been planted for the Gospel message to take root.  But we don't always see immediate growth.  Through prayer and Christians faithfully loving these people the once stone-hard hearts are prepared and the seed is received.  As the Water of God's Word is faithfully and lovingly applied to these seeds growth begins to happen.

All too often we can feel the burden of trying to talk someone into being a believer of Jesus Christ, but nowhere in the Bible are we told to be a salesman for God.  I do however see many examples of how we are to be faithful to sow seeds in love.  We are not responsible for the growth; only our Lord can do this work; we are simply called to be faithful in sowing and reaping what others have sowed.

I want to encourage you to meditate upon these things today.  Let's make it our goal to be the best hydro seeders possible.  Let's let the Lord flow through us boldly and in love as we share our personal testimonies and God's Word with all whom He prompts us to share with.

STUDY QUESTION: According to Isaiah 6:8 what can we learn about Isaiah's willingness to be used by God?

PERSONAL INVENTORY: Are you willing to allow God to use you mightily for kingdom purposes today?

APPLICATION: Let's choose to be a vessel of honor in our Lord's hands today.  Let's choose to plant seeds and to be used in the harvesting of souls.

Let's Pray...

Father, we know apart from You we can do nothing (John 15:5), but through Christ Jesus we can do all things (Phil. 4:13).  Help us to be used by You today to sow seeds and to help with the harvest as well.  In Jesus' precious name, amen...

Be blessed, Pastor Scott
