All In

All In
Having A Heart Of Commitment

Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass. Psalms 37:5 (NKJV)

Have you ever done something half-heartedly?  You know, where you really didn't give it your all, or your best effort.  I think we all can be this way sometimes.  It can be because we don't have our full heart set on the specific thing we are doing, or we simply just don't have enough time to commit to it and still do the other things we need to get done, or have an interest in doing.  I guess you could say we are not "All In."

This statement, "All in" says it all, because it is saying, I believe what I am doing, I am doing with full commitment as unto the Lord.

Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31 (NKJV)

That is exactly how we should live our lives as Christians.  When we live half-heartedly in our Christian walk we are compromising what God wants to do through us, and this is being a lukewarm Christian, and we can clearly see within the Scriptures how the Lord disdains this type of walk.

So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. Revelation 3:16 (NKJV)

I think part of our problem of doing something half-heartedly is we don't feel confident in our own abilities. We can be tempted to doubt our own abilities but we should never doubt God's.  As Christian men and women we can be confident in His ability to achieve His will through us; we must simply be willing to continue to believe and to trust.   Once we have made this commitment within our heart we will do our very best and be confident in God's sovereignty to work everything out.

I want to encourage you to meditate upon these things today.  Let's focus on doing everything as if we were doing it for our Lord Jesus.  Let's have a peace knowing He is being honored in our joyful attitude and persevering spirit.  Let's invite our Lord to use us today as a vessel of honor.  Let's think about what an amazing privilege it is to be use by God.  Let's decide to be "All in" as we choose to live for God today.

STUDY QUESTION: According to the Scriptures contained within this devotional, what could we learn with respect to how we live our lives as Christian men and women?

PERSONAL INVENTORY: Are you fully committed to doing everything as if you were doing it for the Lord?

APPLICATION: Let's make a conscious choice to be fully committed to doing our best in everything we do today.

Let's pray,

Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your commitment to us.  We thank You for being faithful when we are faithless.  We thank You for your promise to finish the good work You started in us.  Help us to see where we are not being fully committed in our lives and strengthen us so we can change.  In Jesus' precious name, amen...

Be Blessed, Pastor Scott
