God's Perfect Plan For You & Me

"For I know the plans I have for you," says the LORD. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT)

I have learned early on in my business career; if I desire to be successful then I must have a good solid business plan.  Of course this plan must be built on the foundation of Christ, first and foremost.  If we are expected to have business plans for projected success in the business world, then why would we, with respect to our own personal life, be any less inclined to have a plan for our lives?  And so it is with us as Christian men and women.  We too, should have a plan for our life.

Thankfully we are given a perfect plan for our lives within the Bible.  Maybe it won't tell us what we are supposed to major in when it comes to college, nor will it tell us whether we should buy a particular house or car, but it will give us everything we need for living a life centered upon God's will for us (Rom. 12:1-2).

Actually, scripture is loaded with great guidance for those who want to live a victorious Christian life as well.  For instance, if we wanted to know the best way to become elevated or exalted by the Lord we are told we must first become humble (1 Peter 5:6), or if it is simply our desire to have the necessary things in life, then we are given clear instructions by Jesus as recorded in Matthew.

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Matthew 6:33 (NKJV)

The fact is God has given us His Word to guide our every action, and to show us a clear and righteous way to walk and live.  We also need to remember God is faithful to His promises.  It should be very comforting for us to know God has a perfect plan for our lives, and we can be confident He will be faithful to finish what He has started.

...being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; Philippians 1:6 (NKJV)

So if we know God has a great plan for our life, and He is going to be faithful to finish it, shouldn't this give us great hope?

I want to encourage you today to meditate upon these truths.  Let's start this day trusting in the Lord for everything we will need.  Let's properly place our confidence in Him and not our economy or our own abilities.  Let's focus on the work He is doing in our lives, as well as the lives of those around us. Let's allow Him to shine in our life during the tough times as well because He has a plan for this as well.

STUDY QUESTION: According to Jeremiah 29:11, what kind of plans does God have in store for you?

PERSONAL INVENTORY: Have you been focusing on your circumstances so much that you have taken your eyes off of God?  Has it caused you to doubt in God's provision for your life?

APPLICATION:  Keep your eyes focused on God, and His Word and the promises contained within.  God knows what He is doing, and when we trust Him, it will show in our attitude, even in the tough times.

Father, thank You for Your abundant grace, mercy, and provision.  Help me to see clearly how every need I have is being met in You. In Jesus' precious name, amen...

Be Blessed, Pastor Scott
