A Living Testimony
Of Truth or Lie

Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ. 1 Corinthians 11:1 (NKJV)

As we come to know Jesus Christ and we begin to learn about His word, the truth and purity of it can expose many sinful practices within our lives and we can begin to repent and turn from these ways.  This can be an amazing time in our Christian walk but it can also present opportunities for the enemy to divide and steal.  Let me explain.

For example, we could have made a commitment to the Lord and are trying very hard to walk in obedience, but we can also find ourselves tempted to be very judgmental and hypercritical of those who don't know the Lord and are still living for this world.

It can also be we have a heart to share the good news of Jesus Christ and the things we are learning about God but find ourselves offended by those we are sharing with.  We may view the person as one who really doesn't want to hear what we are sharing and this can cause us to be bitter as we take this as a personal rejection.  Instead of sharing God's Word out of love and leaving the rest to God we can become very critical of the person for not receiving what we had to share.

Another problem can occur when we find ourselves learning God's Word at a faster pace than one of our family members or friends - we may find ourselves frustrated as we wait to see the fruit of last months message on gossip or forgiveness to sink into their lives.  Again the problem occurs because we are not willing to patiently allow God to do the transforming in His perfect timing.  Unfortunately this frustration can manifest into casting judgment or saying hurtful things - things often hindering or damaging to the walk of the other person.

What we can fail to realize when this happens is our frustration and impatience is just much a sin as any other sin.  We need to remember we have been told to imitate God (Eph. 5:1).  Well one of God's greatest character qualities is His amazing patience for us (2 Pet. 3:9).  God is merciful and His grace is amazing, so shouldn't we also bestow these same things upon others so they might see Jesus in us.

If we truly care for others then we are going to live as an example so they can see God's truth manifested in our actions.  This is what causes others to want to know Jesus.

Even so we should never be ashamed of sharing God's Word in love.  Loving actions are essential but it will be the truth of God's Word revealed allowing them to know Jesus.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes Romans 1:16 (NKJV)

I want to encourage you to be a living testimony today a testimony of truth rather than a lie.

STUDY QUESTION: According to 1 Cor. 11:1 what great advice did the Apostle Paul give?

PERSONAL INVENTORY: Can we say to others, Imitate me as I imitate Christ?

APPLICATION: Look to the Scriptures contained within the Bible to see how Christ acted and get to know Him so you can imitate Him.

Father, thank You for allowing Jesus to come to the Earth to show us how we should live and love others in our actions.  Help me to be more like Jesus today and less like myself.  In Jesus' precious name, amen...

Be Blessed, Pastor Scott
