I am With You Always

I Am With You
Do You Trust Me?

Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV)

As God led His people away from Egypt in route to the Promised Land ahead, He personally escorted them every step of the way.  Their first stop was a place on the edge of the desert called, Etham (Ex. 13:18-21).  I find this kind of cool because the name Etham means, "With them." God wanted them to know this because He had made a covenant with His people to be with them.  He has made this covenant with every one of us as believers as well.

And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever--the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.  John 14:16-17 (NKJV)

Q:    How should this affect our life or bring us confidence and peace?

Well first of all, we have assurance because God is living in us - the same One who spoke all creation into existence.  We can have confidence and peace of mind in His guiding, protecting, and leading us in all understanding. Secondly, if we have confessed Jesus as Lord and Savior we have been given a power  above all power and it is there for us to utilize when doing the will of God.  It is the same power responsible for raising Jesus from the Dead (See Ephesians 1:18-21).

What if you got up knowing God were spending the day with you today - what will you do differently?  If you could imagine Him sitting next to you in your car as you drive down the road, would you talk to Him?  Would you crank that music and teach Him the lyrics to songs that you are listening to?  Would you be respectful of Him?  How would you talk to your spouse, or children, your mother and father, or to a co-worker with Him in your presence - would you speak kinder to them?

If we say that we believe in God; if we say we believe in Jesus; if we believe in the Holy Spirit; if we believe that the Bible is the infallible and inerrant written Word of God, and if we believe God and His Word are true, then why dont we act as if He is really right there next to us when doing every activity?  Why dont we walk in accordance to the way He has asked us to walk?  Why dont we believe the promises He made to us within His Word?

Don't change your beliefs to reflect your actions-change your actions to reflect your belief.

Let's start to talk to our Lord and our Savior, Let's converse with our Father in Heaven; lets thank the Holy Spirit for all He does for us, and lets act according to what we know to be true and righteous.

...I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Matthew 28:20 (NKJV)

STUDY QUESTION: What does Jesus tell us about the Holy Spirit in John 14:16-17?

PERSONAL INVENTORY:  Can you see the times where you have been living and not actually thinking about the Holy Spirit being right there with you?

APPLICATION: Live according to what you know to be true.  When you have a hard time, start talking to God (Prayer); start reading His Word and choose to walk in His truth.

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the Holy Spirit.  Help me today, to remember His presence as I go throughout my day.  Help me to walk in truth and to see the lies of the enemy.   In Jesus' precious name, amen...

Be Blessed, Pastor Scott
