Gone Viral

Gone Viral
Spreading the Proper Message

The lips of the wise disperse knowledge, But the heart of the fool does not  do so. Proverbs 15:7 (NKJV)

When we hear the word, "Viral" it usually brings a negative thought to our minds.  I believe this is because we usually associate this word with sickness - albeit the body or our computer.  To receive something viral usually means we are going to experience an attack on our immunity system.  Billions of dollars each and every year are spent on preventative measures with hopes of eluding potentially dangerous and even lethal viruses to our bodies and/or computers.

Inevitably, every one of us will play a part of the life of a virus.  Not only are we confronted and affected by them, we actually spread them - sometimes unknowingly and sometimes on purpose.  Now right about now, some would be questioning the last part regarding spreading them knowingly.  Well let me explain.

There is a term known as Gone Viral used within the computer world, and it represents something being passed from person to person, on a very large scale.  It can be anything from a statement on twitter or face book, to a video uploaded on You Tube.  The basic concept is people finding interest in what is being said, shared, or shown, resulting in them sharing it with someone else who they believe would be interested.  A recent video of a couple being married in Minnesota titled, "The wedding dance" has generated over 50-million views and continues to be passed around.

Things such as texting, face book, twitter, blogging, and other sorts of communication often receive bad raps. There are many who say, "Talking and sharing things on Face Book, twitter, and blogs is bad, and therefore they deem these ways of communicating as evil or bad." But the real issue isn't the mediums for sharing or communicating, but what is being shared, or communicated.

Technology isn't evil nor is these various methods of communication bad.  How they are being used will determine the good or evil coming from them.   And it is the same for our minds, hearts, and mouths - they too, will be mediums for communicating, whether good or bad.

"Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit.  Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.
But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.  For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned." Matthew 12:33-37 (NKJV)

I guess it comes down to whether we want to communicate a message truly worthy of going viral - something of God, leading others to know Him, and to be healed.  I like to look at it this way, if what you say can't be out on a billboard on the highway for everyone to view then you might want to rethink it before speaking it.

Actually, in this sense, we are really human billboards. We have a certain amount of time to share a message with others, and the things coming from our mouths are seemingly small sound bites - but they can be speaking volumes; either good or bad. When our message is passed to the right people, it can be carried to many influential places and become viral overnight.  This is both exciting and sobering when really contemplated, and should leave one totally committed to taking every thought captive before allowing it to move to the next step in our human process of speaking.

Hey Christian, our mouths can speak forth life or death, and what we speak can affect many lives. It can be the enemy's lies, bringing the fruit of division, disunity and destruction, which have gone viral.  Or it can be the Word of God, and the promises contained within it coming from our mouth that has gone viral.  Lets make a choice today to speak forth life - life more abundantly.  Let's make Gods Word the virus people are catching.

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. John 10:10 (NKJV)

STUDY QUESTION: According to Proverbs 15:7, what is the difference between the lips of the wise, and the heart of the foolish?

PERSONAL INVENTORY: What are your lips speaking?

APPLICATION: Take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ; get rid of anything you may be thinking on that brings forth sin in your life, or those things going against the Word of God.

Father, Thank You for Your guidance, and leading within my life.  Thank You for the conviction of the Holy Spirit.  Help me today to walk in obedience to Your truth.  Help me to take every thought captive and to discard those things I shouldn't be thinking upon. In Jesus precious name, amen...
