You're Significant!

You're Significant!

Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap, which have neither storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds?  If then God so clothes the grass, which today is in the field and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith? Luke 12:24, 28 (NKJV)

I think there can be times within every one of our lives where we feel somewhat insignificant or unimportant - we might even say we just feel, "Average."  And then there are times where we can actually feel worthless depending on what set of circumstances we are facing.  The funny thing about feelings is they seem to represent our self-perception more than just about any other factor, including the facts contained within the Bible.

I believe this is just one of a thousand types of lies the enemy will use to cause us to feel as though we're not valuable or of any worth to God. I believe we all need to remember 2-things when we are tempted to believe we are somehow insignificant.  The first thing to know is God allowed Jesus to die on the cross for you because He loves you.  That makes you very special in God's book.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. John 3:16-17 (NKJV)

The second thing is each one of us is made just the way God intended - it isn't because of a good gene pool or anything else. He created us different, and He created us to do great things.

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10 (NKJV)

This means our worth should never be based on man's value system of what is fashionable, trendy or cool - it is based on God's marvelous ability of making each of us distinctively unique.  So much so, there is only one person with your DNA match and it just so happens to be you. We can see the Psalmist expressing his belief in this very thing in the Scripture below.

I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. Psalms 139:14 (NKJV)

Unfortunately, all too often our worth seems to depend on our abilities; talents, possessions, outward appearance, and what we have to offer. The problem is when we rely on anything other than God to find our worth, acceptance or approval in, we can find ourselves on an emotional roller coaster ride - meandering through life, being slammed back and forth between the highs and lows of our moods and attitudes.

Hey Christian, God feels you're significant - that settles it!.  To disagree would be disagreeing with God and this would be sin.  God loves you and has paid a price to have a relationship with you personally.  And for those who seek to know Him and accept this gift through Jesus Christ, He has made their body a temple by which He now lives.

Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? 1Corinthians 3:16 (NKJV)

I want to encourage you to meditate upon these truths today - think about what God has done to show you His love and of your worth.  Cling to the promises contained within His Word - the Holy Bible.  There are over 3,000 promises made to us as His children. It's not too hard to see the truth and to know, you're significant.

STUDY QUESTION: What can we learn from the Scriptures contained within this devotional about our significance to God?

PERSONAL INVENTORY: Do you know how much God loves you?

APPLICATION: Think upon the truth of God's Word and don't be led by your emotions to think anything other than this; God loves you, and He has a plan for you - trust Him!

Father, Thank You for sharing within Your Word these truths.  Thank You for showing me how much You love me.  Thank You for showing me how much You have sacrificed to have a relationship with me.  Help me to remember this when I feel somehow less significant.  Help me to remember You have a specific plan for me and my life.  In Jesus precious name, amen...

Be Blessed, Pastor Scott
