God-Part II
He Exists!

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, "Let there be light;" and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day. Genesis 1:1-5 (NKJV)

In Part I of this devotional series, we shared a few things about God's creations that speak loudly of His existence and his absolute perfection with regard to the design of the created, and to how these things work.  And even though there are billions of pieces of proof showing God's existence through His divine creations we are focusing on 5 of them. So far we have covered:

1.    The Earth
2.    The Moon
3.    Water

And in Part II we will take a look at two more creations that showcase divine creation from God.  The first of these two examples is "The Human Brain."

4.    The Human Brain

The human brain simultaneously processes an amazing amount of information. Your brain takes in all the colors and objects you see, the temperature around you, the pressure of your feet against the floor, the sounds around you, the dryness of your mouth, even the texture of this article in your hand. Your brain registers emotional responses, thoughts and memories.  At the same time your brain keeps track of the ongoing functions of your body like your breathing pattern, eyelid movement, hunger and movement of the muscles in your hands. The human brain processes more than a million messages a second.

Your brain weighs the importance of all this data, filtering out the relatively unimportant. This screening function is what allows you to focus and operate effectively in your world.  A brain that deals with more than a million pieces of information every second, while evaluating its importance and allowing you to act on the most pertinent information

Q:    How does one explain the existence of the human brain?

A:    Only a mind more intelligent and knowledgeable than humanity could have created the human brain.
The last thing I would like to take a look at is the Bible itself.

5.    The Bible (Gods Word)

God not only has revealed Himself in what can be observed in nature, and in human life, but He has even more specifically shown Himself in the Bible.

God's thoughts, personality, and attitudes can only be known if God chooses to reveal them. All else would be human speculation. We are at a loss if God does not wish to be known. But God wants us to know Him and has told us in the Bible all we need to know about His character and how to relate to Him. This makes the reliability of the Bible an important consideration.

(Archaeological findings continue to confirm rather than refute the accuracy of the Bible. For example, an archeological find in northern Israel in August 1993 confirmed the existence of King David, author of many of the Psalms in the Bible (#2).

The Dead Sea Scrolls and other archaeological discoveries continue to substantiate the historical accuracy of the Bible.
The Bible was written over a 1500-year span.  It is a collection of 66-books written by 40 different authors, in different locations and on separate continents, written in three different languages, covering diverse subject matters at different points in history (#3) Yet there is an astounding consistency in its message. Throughout the entire Bible the same message appears:

1.    God created the world we live in, and created us specifically to have a relationship with Him.
2.    He deeply loves us.
3.    We have sinned and are under God's judgment, in need of His forgiveness.
4.    God provided a way for our sins to be forgiven.
5.    He asks us to receive His forgiveness and have a relationship with Him that will last eternally.

Everything we need to know about God is in the Bible.  God inspired man to write the things that are contained within this collection of books, and it is God The Holy Spirit who will ultimately lead us and teach us from these writings.

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2Timothy 3:16-17 (NKJV)

Hey Christian, God created--and we are His creation.  What a great privilege it is to be invited to have an intimate personal relationship with the creator.  I want to encourage you to take a moment to reflect on what you have been given.  If your relationship is good, keep growing.  If it is stagnant, stir it up a bit.  If it is nonexistent, then earnestly seek Him today--you will find Him.

STUDY QUESTION: According to 2Timothy 3:16-17 where to the scriptures contained within the Bible come from?  What are they good for?

PERSONAL INVENTORY: Do you read Bible scripture daily?

APPLICATION: Make a covenant to read your Bible each day, asking God to show you and guide you in all understanding and application of it.

Father, Thank You for Your Word that You have given us to live by.  Lord, I know that You have said in 1John 2:27 that all we need as Christians is the Holy Spirit to teach us the truth, so please lead me in all truth as I commit to reading Your Word today.  In Jesus precious name, amen...
