Dont Know What You Got Until Its Gone!

So the same day Pharaoh commanded the taskmasters of the people and their officers, saying, You shall no longer give the people straw to make brick as before. Let them go and gather straw for themselves. And you shall lay on them the quota of bricks which they made before. You shall not reduce it. Exodus 5:7-8 (NKJV)

I dont know about you, but I take a lot of things for granted. I dont usually think about the very gift of being able to get up healthy in the morning, after a great nights sleep in my comfortable bed, thats located in my nice safe home. I get up and check out whats going on by looking at my nice computer which is plugged safely into the electrical outlet that is always faithful to give me power for everything from the cold food in my side by side refrigerator, to the air conditioning that gets flipped on when I think Im beginning to get a hint of perspiration.

Come to think of it, Im spoiled!

I think we all are to a certain degree when it comes right down to it. But one thing is for sure when its gone we sure notice it.

Such was the case when the Israelites were told that they would have to make bricks, but without straw. It may seem like a minor deal, but it was anything but that, as straw was the fiber that held the brick together. Not enough, and the brick had no strength. So, since they didnt have the straw that they had come to take for granted, they now had to work twice as hard to have the same things that they were ungrateful for in the first place.

So many things are changing in our nation, and our rights and privileges are changing as well. Many of the things that use to be persons right, have been changed to a privilege. And our government is taking many of these privileges away from us.

That is the course of deterioration that it always takes. You first have a right to do something, such as drive or pray in school. These rights are then changed to a privilege. So you now are to be made to feel so special because you have this privilege. Then one day, that privilege offends someone who doesnt think that you should be given this privilege. And then the government who was elected by all of us, and in effect, is us, now puts forth a law that makes it illegal to do these things that we were once a given right to do.

We dont vote on it, and we are told what we can and cant do by ourselves. Our we smart or what?

The point of this isnt to be cynical or to get anyone on an anti-government or in this case, an anti-ourselves rant. It wont do any good, and it certainly isnt productive. But we can always pray to God about it.

The point I wanted to make is that we have it pretty good, and we dont always see things this way. I believe that we should be praising God each and every day for the things that we have been given, both individually, and as a nation. We can get all fired up about going to war or staging a peace rally, but we really should count the cost of what it took to get these things that we call basic.

It has taken Jesus dying on the cross to give us the access to pray to God directly.

Now all of us can come to the Father through the same Holy Spirit because of what Christ has done for us. Ephesians 2:18 (NLT)

Hey, you may not be able to speak out loud in school anymore when youre saying thank you God, or please help me Lord. But that doesnt stop God from hearing you, when youre praying in silence. So tell your kids, Dont stop! Keep praying all the time, especially at school.

It has taken hundreds of thousands of military men as well to die while fighting to give us this right and many other rights as well; including the right to those who would protest those who are fighting for you and others who cant defend themselves (Tell me that one makes sense).

And for those who dont think that we should be fighting in the first place, I would remind them to read their Bible. God has always told us to go forth and to fight those who would not allow us to live in peace. Sometimes it was in defense, and others times it was in an offensive move.

Your wives, children, and livestock may remain here in the land Moses assigned to you on the east side of the Jordan River. But your strong warriors, fully armed, must lead the other tribes across the Jordan to help them conquer their territory. Stay with them Joshua 1:14 (NLT)

We should remember, as Christians, we are not just fighting flesh and blood out there in this world, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places (see Eph 6:12). And so, we are fighting against those who are under the influence of these evil entities, and as a result those who will not submit to God; who do not acknowledge Jesus, and who have a desire to take away our rights, our possessions, our lives and our country.

Now more than ever, we need to seek the protection and the guidance of our Lord Jesus Christ. God has said he will take care of us if we turn to Him. I think it is that time, regardless of what our government is doing.

If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 2Chronicles 7:14 (NLT)

Are you a Christian? Then youre called by His name. Its time for us to humble ourselves, to start praying fervently, and we need to seek His face. Lets stop doing things our way, and start to live the way He has asked us to.

STUDY QUESTION: What does God say He will do, and what do we have to do for Him to do this, according to 2 Chronicles 7:14?

PERSONAL INVENTORY: Are you living a humble life? Are you praying for our country and the leaders daily? Are you seeking God, and looking forward to seeing Him soon?

APPLICATION: Turn from the lifestyle that your flesh desires to live, and give your life fully to living for God. It will blow your mind, and you will be richly rewarded.

Father, Thank You for the things that I have taken for granted every day. I give You all the glory for these things, and I want to acknowledge that You are the one whose provided all of these things. Lord I life up the leaders of our country today, and I ask that You would guide them and draw them near to You. I pray that You would give them wisdom and discernment in everything that they are doing. In Jesus precious name, amen&
