Check Out My New Pad!

In My Fathers house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. John 14:2-3 (NKJV)

Now, what do you picture when Jesus says mansions? Do you picture a Beverly Hills Mansion, surrounded by beautiful gardens? How about a southern estate with a huge piece of property filled with trees?

    I dont&

You see, I believe that Jesus was talking about the same thing Paul was talking about in 2 Corinthians. That mansion is actually the New Body that Jesus has prepared for you.

I believe we are going to move from this Temporary Tent to a new mansion.

Into that new Building of God, a house not made of hands, eternal in the heavens. This new body isnt going to get tired, so it wont need sleep. And because it doesnt need to sleep, it obviously wont need a bedroom to sleep in.
So, when we die, when this earthly house or temporary tent finally fails, we will be given the trust deed on our new place, our new pad. How cool is that?

For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2Corinthians 5:1 (NKJV)

If you knew you were going to get a mansion when your little tent that you are temporarily living in was done serving you, wouldnt you be eager? I think that is exactly what Paul was writing about in 2 Corinthians 5:2.

We grow weary in our present bodies, and we long to put on our heavenly bodies like new clothing. 2Corinthians 5:2 (NLT)

Hes right; we do grow weary in our present bodies. They are just like tents, and mine is wearing out. It isnt as durable anymore, and its beginning to show signs. My ligaments are fraying and beginning to stretch like the old thread that holds the tent flaps together. And the skin that use to be so durable and yet soft, is unbelievably thin and fragile.

What does all this mean? It means it wont be long until I get to go home and get a new body, one thats eternal, and wont wear out.

Do you remember going camping when you were younger? I do. I remember how cool it was to pitch a tent and go out in the deserts or mountains and to camp under the stars. But soon the romance wore off as the nights begin to cool, or the rains came. The ground was sure hard too. I still liked it, and enjoyed it for a short time, but it was great to go home to my real house. Thats because it was much better, with the soft bed, warm running water and all.

I have to imagine thats the way its going to be like when we get to Heaven. This is okay here on earth in these Temporary Tents, but they just wont compare with the Eternal House that is being prepared for us by our Lord and Savior.

In the meantime, we press on, working to share the Gospel with the lost, and we allow the Lord to use us in building up the body of believers.

If youve accepted Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, then knowing these things should help you lose your fears of death, and build your faith in Gods plan for your earthly life and the one for eternity.

For we walk by faith, not by sight. are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. 2Corinthians 5:7-8 (NKJV)

Hey Christian! Be strong in the Lord. Walk with confidence, and in love. Show mercy to others, and obey Gods Word. Lifes great!

STUDY QUESTION: According to 2 Corinthians 5:7-8, what happens when we die?

PERSONAL INVENTORY: Are you looking forward to seeing Christ when your body dies?

APPLICATION: Use your time wisely; choose to know the Lord while you are here in this temporary tent. Serve Him, and help others come to know Him. It is going to make that meeting day when you are face to face with Him all the sweeter.

Father, Thank You for the encouragement of knowing I have a new body awaiting me. Help me today Lord to use the one I have now for sharing the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Bring someone into my life today Lord, either by this writing or face-to-face so that I can share this blessing with them. In Jesus precious name, amen&
