Apple Doesn't fall to far from the tree

The Apple Doesnt Fall Too Far From The Tree!
Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word. You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. John 8:43-44 (NKJV)
Boy, talk about calling a spade a spade. Jesus didnt mince words when dealing with those Jewish people who refused to believe He was the Messiah. Telling them they werent capable of understanding because they werent even able to listen to the words He spoke. They were a tough crowd, with tough hearts, and they were unwilling to receive the truth from God in the flesh.
Not much has changed in our generation with regard to how many people actually receive the message of the Gospel. There are still many who are unable to understand, and who are unable or unwilling to listen to the Word of God as well.
    Q:Why is this?
A:Jesus gives insight to the profound answer to this question in the verse that directly follows in John 8:44. He states the reason they are unable to understand and receive His word is because they are children of the devil. Again, this is a very straightforward comment, sternly given to those who are blinded by the lies of Satan.
This is the same principle of telling the truth in love, given to us in Proverbs.
Faithful are the wounds of a friend, But the kisses of an enemy are deceitful. Proverbs 27:6 (NKJV)
You see, this is because only a friend cares enough to tell it like it is. Only a true friend will love you enough to tell you the truth in love when you are walking on the path of destruction. This is exactly what Jesus was doing here. He needed to use strong language to get the point across, and to get through to these men. Being a friend isnt always easy, but thats what being a true friend is.
So when Jesus said these men were children of the devil, he did this because of their unwillingness to handle and hear the truth of God. And because of their affiliation to their father Satan, they didnt know the real truth. They were simply living in a world of lies, false beliefs, and distortions of real truths.
So their family association was wrong, and it spawned as byproduct things that are not of God. They were inclined to live out their true fathers desire within their lives, rather than Gods.
We, too, can see these principles in the lives of those who dont know Jesus as Lord and Savior. When theyre unsaved, they will continuously seek to live out the desires of the flesh. They will continuously seek to fulfill those temptations, which are thought to bring happiness and contentment. The devil, is alive and working very hard 24-hours a day to deprive all of us of true life, and to distort the truth of God.
Those Jews that Jesus spoke to in the verses above were simply demonstrating the truth of that old saying, Like father, like son.
And I believe these words are as viable today as they were when He spoke them over 2,000-years ago. We are all children of a father, and it is either God, or Satan. We get to choose whom we will identify as our father.
We can choose to receive the gift of life from God Almighty through accepting His Son as our personal Lord and Savior (See Romans 10:9-10).
Or, we can choose to live our life independently, denying Gods existence and place within our life. By not choosing God, the choice has been made to choose Satan; there is no middle ground here.
Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven. Matthew 10:32-33 (NKJV)
We can see the fruit in our life as to whom we choose to identify with as well. You see, the apple doesnt fall to far from the tree.
Hey Christian, I want to encourage you today; if youve chosen to identify with God as being your father, then seek to live a life of obedience to Him. Ask Him to show you what He would have for your life today. Ask Him to use you in a mighty way. Read His Word, and simply apply the things He is sharing with you as you meditate upon it.
STUDY QUESTION: What can you reconcile from the verses above in John and Matthew?
PERSONAL INVENTORY: Have you made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior?
APPLICATION: If youve made a profession of faith in Christ as Savior, then simply continue to read and apply those things learned daily. Pray always, asking for Gods leading, wisdom, discernment, and power for your life.
Father, Thank You for being my heavenly Father. Thank You for allowing me to be a part of Your family. I look forward to spending eternity with You, and all of those who have put their faith in Your Son, my Lord and Savior Jesus. I praise you in His precious name, amen&
