The 4-1-1 On Why We Were Created

The 4-1-1 On Why We Were Created

Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. Revelation 4:11 (KJV)

Have you ever stopped to consider why youre here on earth?

Composer Burt Bacharach, and Hal David obviously did, when they wrote the song, Whats it all about, Alfie?

The song was written to steer the listener to the probing question of the meaning of life. The lyrics go like this:

    What's it all about, Alfie?
Is it just for the moment we live?
What's it all about when you sort it out, Alfie?
Are we meant to take more than we give
Or are we meant to be kind?
And if only fools are kind, Alfie,
Then I guess it's wise to be cruel.
And if life belongs only to the strong, Alfie,
What will you lend on an old golden rule?
As sure as I believe there's a heaven above, Alfie,
I know there's something much more,

The song concluded with the answer of, it was all about love.

Well, to some extent, I believe this is true. I believe life is about learning the love of our father in heaven, and asking ourselves the question, Do I want a relationship with Him?

I would like to leave the world of music now and come back to the truth of Gods Word for a few minutes here. A quick look at Revelation 4:11 gives us the 4-1-1 on real answer according to God. It answers the questions such as:

"What we were created to do?
    "Who created us?
    "Why do we exist?

First of all we are told in this verse, it is the Lord who is worthy to receive our Glory and Honor.

The word Glory is from the Greek word: doxa, dox´-ah; which means, Praise and Worship.

The word Honor used here is from the Greek word: time, tee-may´, which means, Esteem in the highest form.

So we were created to worship the Lord, with the highest esteem possible.

Secondly, it was the Lord who created us, because He created All Things!

This flies in the face of evolutionists, who have distorted the very truth concerning the creation of our existence. You see, when the evolutional theory took God out of the equation, man lost his true purpose for living. Man was no longer acknowledging God in his day-to-day living. Man would no longer be living to bring pleasure to God by living righteously; worshiping and glorifying God.

Mankind now was living to bring pleasure to only himself, and subsequently he started to worship the created, rather than the creator.

We see this started in the very beginning of mans existence when Adam first chose to listen to the temptation of Satan, and fulfill his fleshly desires. Once he chose to fulfill his fleshly desires, his eyes were immediately open to his sin. He knew he was naked and he attempted to cover up.

Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves. Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden. Genesis 3:7-8 (NIV)

And this is the temptation we face today, as we either accept the Bible and all its teachings, including those showing us why we were made, or we choose to live in the flesh, and pride; worshiping the created things. When we do this, we separate ourselves from God. And when this happens, we feel the effects of our sin, and we attempt to hide it, or cover it up, just as Adam did in the Garden of Eden.

Lets stop hiding from God. Lets stop living just to feed our fleshly desires. Then we can stop covering up these things we are doing. Lets lay them at His feet today, and ask for forgiveness, and mercy. He will be faithful to forgive, and we will again feel His love, His security and His peace in our life. When we experience this, we will have no problem fulfilling our true purpose of worshiping God, and He will receive the pleasure for which we were made.

STUDY QUESTION: According to Revelation 4:11, why were we created?

PERSONAL INVENTORY: Are you willing to acknowledge Gods purpose for creating you?

APPLICATION: Seek God today, and talk with Him. He already knows everything; all we need to do, is come to Him and acknowledge that it was wrong, and ask Him for the strength, wisdom, and discernment to walk in the direction He wants for you.

Father, Thank You for Your love, grace, mercy, and forgiveness. I turn to You today Lord, and ask for forgiveness of any sin in my life. Bring them to my mind Lord, so that I may reconcile them and see them clearly. Help me to change the way I am doing things where they are in contrast to Your ways Father. In Jesus precious name, amen&
