I Feel Ya Brother

I Feel Ya Brother

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we areyet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Hebrews 4:15-16 (NIV)

Have you ever let someone know just how tough things are going in your life, and then they respond with something like, I feel ya brother? Or it can be another response, such as, Yeah, I know what you mean, or maybe I can relate to that. The point is that the sentiment is the same. They are basically saying that they understand what it is that you are going through. But I think to myself that there are probably more times than not, that they really dont know what it is that your are going through, or how you may actually feel.

Now dont get me wrong here. Im not saying that the vast majorities of people are just going around and pacifying others by saying such things, Im simply saying that there are many who come along side of us during these times and make these statements for a variety of reasons. Some actually do care, and they are at a loss for words. Others, actually think that they can relate to you because, in their mind, they put themselves in your shoes for a brief moment and attempt to size up the pain or fear that you may be experiencing.

The fact is, that unless someone has experienced what you are experiencing, then he or she really cannot fully understand what is like, or how you may actually feel. And even if they have experienced it, there may still be several varying factors that cause each person to feel differently or be able to process it properly.

Then there will be those who do, in fact, know what we are going through, and how we feel, because theyve been there, and theyve experienced that. God will, at times, bring these people into our lives that have had similar experiences and that do have a grasp of the feelings that we have and the challenges that we face. These people will be there to encourage us, exhort us, and even hold us accountable while giving us good counsel. They will be there to listen and to share in our hard times, and to lift us up in prayer.

But there is something else that we should know and remember when we are suffering during these tribulations and tests, especially when we are failing. Regardless of who is or isnt there for us, we can know that we have a High Priest who sympathizes with our weaknesses. Thats great news, because we can tend to focus on our failures and inadequacies during our hard times, and we can feel as though there is nowhere to turn, or that there is no one who can really understand how bad it is, or help us.

This is where it truly helps to know that Jesus endured these same types of temptations and hardships that we are facing. He knows how we feel, and because of that, He has a great compassion for us.

Theyre some who might say, But Jesus doesnt understand how bad I feel&He cant possibly understand the stress that I am under as a provider for my family. He cant know what it feels to be a business owner going through financial troubles. He cant know what it feels to be a person in a bad relationship

He knows! He has been tempted in Every way, just as we are.
Hes been through it all. He sat in a Garden the night before He was to be crucified, knowing His fate, and sweat blood because of the stress and anguish He was enduring.

And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground. Luke 22:44 (NIV)

Hey Christian, God knows what you are going through, He cares, and He will guide you through it. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Dont let the enemy get a hold of your mind when you fail, because these mistakes can still be used for Gods glory. He will use every one of our failures for the benefit of someone or something good. We just have to allow Him&

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28 (NIV)

STUDY QUESTION: What confidence should we receive from Hebrews 4:15-16?

PERSONAL INVENTORY: Have you gone through tough times where you feel that there is no one who understands or can possibly feel like you do?

APPLICATION: Seek the throne of grace. Talk to God through prayer. Let Him know that you need His help, and He will give you the peace that transcends all knowledge.

Father, Thank You for allowing me to come and talk with You. Lord, I acknowledge that You know what I am going through during my struggles, and I am thankful that You know what I need and will guide me through it. I thank You and praise You in Jesus precious name, amen&
