God Is On The Throne

God is On The Throne

The LORD has established His throne in heaven, And His kingdom rules over all. Psalms 103:19 (NKJV)

As we prepare to enter into an election year we will be tempted to be sucked into all the hype and antics of the political pundits, not to mention all those carefully thought out campaign commercials by each of the political candidates.  Those who espouse to keep their office will continue to talk about what they think needs to be done to make necessary changes and they will do their best to attempt to convince voters they are the person to do the job, even if it means attacking the candidate who is running against them.

Conversely, there will be many facts brought to light by the new candidates who espouse to take hold of these offices with the primary focus on revealing what has, or has not been done over the last few years, along with the impact of the decisions made.

Now as good as this process can be, it can also be tempting to get overly caught up in it.  Don't get me wrong, I believe we have an obligation and it is a great privilege to be able to place our votes.  We should be educated on who we are going to cast our vote for.  And there is a time and place to foster constructive conversation with regard to sharing with others about things they should know before casting their vote.

This being said, we need to guard ourselves from the attacks from the enemy, because Satan loves to get us to fix our eyes on the chaos and to tempt us into looking upon all the problems so we will become distracted.  He knows some people will become angry and offensive in their opinions while others will lose hope and become discouraged or depressed.

Q:    So how can we guard ourselves against these things when we see and hear so much bad stuff through every media outlet?

A:    We must remember God is on the throne and He is in control.  We need to find our hope in Him and not in any politician.

Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart, All you who hope in the LORD. Psalms 31:24 (NKJV)

God has given us many promises within His Word so we can be confident in His plan for our lives (Jer. 29:11).  Yes there will be some tough times and we will face difficulties, but God is still in control.  We must remember He is using these times to shape and transform us in our Christian walk.  Since we can be confident in our Lord for our eternal salvation shouldn't we also be confident in His protection, provision and in His leading of our lives?

I want to encourage you today.  Take time to research the potential candidates and pray about whom you should vote for.  Let's do our part in making a positive change to elect our future leaders.  But let us not become discouraged when we do not see what we were hoping to see. God is in control and He will tend to His flock because He is a faithful and just God.   Let's think upon these truths when we are tempted to fear.  Let's find our peace, joy and hope in God.  If we do this, we will always be a vessel He can use to reflect His light to a world with no hope.

STUDY QUESTION: What great promise are we given in Psalms 31:24?

PERSONAL INVENTORY: Have you found yourself doubting as you hear the things that are happening in the news?

APPLICATION:  When you find yourself tempted to become anxious or lose hope because of what you see and hear it is time to put your eyes back upon the Lord and place your hope solely in Him.  Spend time reading your Bible daily.  As you do, you'll find God will fill your mind with peace and your faith will be strengthened.

Father, thank You for Your perfect provision.  I choose to look to You this day for everything needed.  I trust You and I thank You for what You are going to do in my life.  Help me to remember this when the enemy tempts me to lose hope in this world.  In Jesus' precious name, amen...

Be Blessed, Pastor Scott
