The Power of Your Testimony

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. Revelation 12:11 (NKJV)

As much as it saddens me I believe there are many people who profess to be Christian who will be shocked when they find themselves living within the Great Tribulation spoken of in the Book of Revelation.  These are those who have made a tongue-in-cheek confession, but whose hearts were never truly surrendered to God, nor did they ever really seek to glorify God or abide in His will (John 15:1-11).

There will be others left behind as well — those who have had the gospel message given to them but failed to receive it. I venture to say, they will probably reflect upon the past conversations they had with Christian believers. And just as a flower blooms out of the seemingly dead and lifeless desert, salvation will spring forth in the once dry and hard hearts of many people during this seven-year period. We are told they will overcome Satan by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony (Rev.12:11).

The Bible tells us there will be an amazing love and devotion for Jesus in the lives of these tribulation saints, and many will willingly die for sharing their personal testimony (Rev. 7:14) — knowing martyrdom will only usher them directly into the presence of Jesus (Phil. 1:21, 23).

I believe knowing this revelation of truth should encourage us and greatly impact the way we live our lives today. We may face scrutiny, judgment, prejudice, and even persecution for choosing to be followers of Jesus and by living differently than the unsaved world does, but in all probability we won’t be martyred.  Even so, we have been given the power to live our lives in a Holy and sanctified way through the blood of Jesus and by the power of the Holy Spirit. In actuality, it is only through the blood of Jesus Christ that any believer can overcome the devil (1 Peter 1:18-19).

We should also know, when we share our personal testimony of how Jesus saved and transformed us; we are overcoming the power of the enemy in the lives of those who hear. Some may be saved right then as we also share the gospel message (1 Cor. 15:1-4), while the seeds of salvation will be planted in the hard hearts of others (Matt. 13:1-23).

I want to encourage you to think and pray upon these things today. Choose to be a hydro-seeder for the Kingdom of God.  Be faithful to live in a way honoring to God and to be faithful to share your testimony with as many as possible.

STUDY QUESTION: According to Revelation 12:11, how do we as Christian men and women overcome Satan?

PERSONAL INVENTORY: Is your life a living testimony before others—a testimony of a transformed life?

PRACTICAL APPLICATION: Choose to abide in Jesus today and allow the Holy Spirit to use you by sharing your testimony and the gospel message with others.

PRAYER: Father, thank You for giving me the power to overcome the evil one and to break the bondage I was once in.  Help me to walk in the spirit today so I do not fulfill the lust of the flesh.  Help me to share the love of Jesus with others by telling them how He has impacted my life. In Jesus’ precious name, amen…

Blessings Upon Your Day,  Scott
